Need Gum Gone? Chewing gum removal is a very sticky situation, whether it is stuck on your concrete, parking lot or the side of a building, chewing gum eventually turns into a black smudge on your concrete. But before that happens, visitors and clients coming into a store or office will walk on the chewing gum and get it in all over your carpets, rugs and entryway mats. Then it’s forced deep into the carpet and into the porous surface of concrete or asphalt, just waiting for another person to step in it again, to carry it somewhere else in your building.
We are happy to offer gum removal as one of our commercial pressure washing services in Quincy MA. Find information on our methods below:
The best methods of removing gum from concrete usually depends on the gum’s age and level of penetration into the concrete surface. If the chewing gum was left not long ago and it hasn’t penetrated the surface, we might be able to remove it by covering it with ice until it freezes, then scraping the gum off with a putty knife.
The ice forces the chewing gum to freeze into a more forgiving consistency compared to a gooey and sticky glob. Once the gum is frozen, we slide a metal putty knife or scraper directly under the gum residue. After that we slide the scraper very slowly beneath the gum and the entire piece should peel right off the concrete.
The above method is only possible with brand new gum.
When we remove gum that is already black, or is smashed down into the concrete surface, we use a hot water power washer with the heat dialed up to 200 Degrees to melt the gum. For this type of gum removal service, we will not use high pressure because that could ruin the surface of the concrete!
Our crew never uses any more pressure than necessary to safely clean concrete surfaces. These surfaces can be damaged a lot easier than people think, especially if they’re only a couple of years old. Concrete can take up to 100 years to cure completely. That is why we always use hot water and the least amount of pressure possible for our professional chewing gum removal service.
To remove gum from sidewalks and other surfaces we use custom designed hot water power washing tools and professional-grade soaps that allow us to effectively clean the concrete without causing any damages.
Using special 200 degree hot water pressure washers and low pressure, we can safely remove gum and dirt all while protecting the surface. Our method will also destroy bacteria and viruses that can be found in gum on concrete.
